Rahul Sharma, co-founder and CEO of Micromax, called Gadgets 3 call0 and said that customers will see the series in the market before the festive season.
Micromax plans to bring the series between Rs 7,000 and Rs 25,000. Micromax, which initially gained popularity due to its highly affordable phone marketing in India, is not planning to launch a smartphone below Rs 7,000 this time.
Sharma said the company is not planning to enter another Rs 5,000 segment at the moment as the segment is getting smaller. “People are focusing more on products that focus on performance,” Sharma said.
The 41-year-old entrepreneur showed in a video teaser released on Friday what the upcoming Micromax series retail box will look like. However, no specifications or features of the phone have been revealed in this video.
Sharma told Gadgets36060 that the development of the new series had started even before the Indo-China border dispute. “Research and development was already underway, but it was an event that took it forward,” he said.
Market analysts say anti-China sentiment is not enough to keep Micromax afloat in the country’s highly competitive smartphone market.
