Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the GCC said, “Today we have launched the Umang mobile app. This app provides more than 100 citizen-centric services. These services will be operated by various departments of the Central and State Governments. The last two decades have seen a lot of changes in the cyber world.
The Umang app includes digital India services. These include Aadhaar, DG Locker and Pegov. In addition to these, all the major government services currently available through the app, web, SMS and IVR can be found in this app. Apart from these, CBSE results can also be seen through the app. In addition to Hindi and English, the phone is also supported for 10 Indian languages. It also has access to payment based transactions.
To gain access to various e-governance services from any third party application, Umang Arp supports Aadhaar and other authentication processes such as phone numbers and locations.
To use the Umang app, you need to register your identity. The registration process will be through an OTP which will be sent to your mobile number. Next, you’ll need to answer some security questions, which will enable you to recover the Umang account in case you forget your password later. Once you have completed the registration process the app will ask you to set an MPIN that will work with the mobile number to access the application.
The Umang app has social media integration that allows you to connect your Facebook, Google and Twitter accounts to enable the one-touch login process.
The Umang app supports Android 4.4 and above, Android version and iOS 8.0 and later. In addition to these, you can make a missed call to 97183-97183 for the app download link to your number.
