Respect 9N Review

Honor has launched another budget smartphone for its Indian customers. Last year’s Honor 9N handset Honor 9 lights (Revaluation) An upgrade of. The changes are small, but unavoidable. The display uses grooves. The selfie camera has become 16 megapixels. It comes with glass back, dual rear camera setup, 19: 9 display and box Android 8.0 Orio.

In India, the Honor 9N starts at Rs 11,999. Direct fighting Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Oppo Realm d (Revaluation) And Moto G6 (Revaluation) Like a handset. Honor, does this new smartphone have the ability to create a distinct identity in the budget segment? Let’s find out …

Honor 9N design

At first glance, the design of the Honor 9N catches the eye first. The back panel is made of glass and comes with a glossy finish. The horizontal dual camera does not extend beyond the surface of the backpanel. The antenna line is hidden. For this reason, the rear panel looks very clean.

The 5.84-inch display has a groove at the top that is quite small. There is no doubt that there is not an opinion among the customers about the display notch. So, Honor also gave an option to hide the authenticity of the display in the settings menu. In fact, with it, the user can blacken the adjacent part of the groove.

The smartphone is very compact. Made for one-handed use. The curved edge and curved side make this device feel good in the hand. However, it slips easily. The glossy glass back also gives fingerprints. Build quality is admirable. The phone feels stiff. It went down a few times during the review, but nothing happened.

The fingerprint sensor on the back works fast and is also accurate. It can also be used to take pictures, take phone calls and slide the notification panel. The good news is that these gestures can be used with any finger, including a fingerprint sensor. Only the finger is not registered to protect the device.

On the left side of the Honor 9N is the space for the SIM tray. Here you need to select another Nano SIM and MicroSD card. On the right are the volume and power buttons. These are a bit smaller than our choice, but there is no problem in reaching them

There is a micro-USB port at the bottom of the phone. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a loudspeaker. Disappointed not to see any USB Type-C port for data transfer and charging. Now the UAB Type-C port is starting to become a reality and the time has come for Honor to develop this hardware feature as a part of its budget handset.

Respect 9N specification and display

Honor’s reliable Kirin 659 processor is used in Honor 9N. Same processor Honor 7X (Revaluation), Honors 9 Lite, Respect 9i (Revaluation) There are three forms of smartphones used that touch different price segments. The initial variant has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, priced at Rs 11,999. We have reviewed the Rs 13,999 variant which comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The third variant of the phone is priced at Rs 17,999, which comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Let us know that the first cell to be held on 31st July will have 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variants of Honor 9N. The company did not say anything about the availability of the remaining variants.

Honor 9N

The Honor 9N has a 3,000 mAh battery. It runs on Android 8.0 Orio based EMUI 8.0. For connectivity, the handset has Wi-Fi 802.11 AC, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, 4G VoLTE, micro-USB port and 3.5mm headphone jack. There is no support for the NFC. In this, two SIMs can be used simultaneously but only one will work on 4G network.

The Honor 9N has a 5.84-inch full-HD + IPS display with a 19: 9 aspect ratio. The screen dominates the front panel. But it is not a completely borderless screen. There is still enough bezel at the bottom. Display is an important feature of this phone. The viewing angle is extremely precise and the panels are bright, bright and bulky. The 19: 9 aspect ratio improves the gaming and multimedia experience.

Respect 9N performance, software and battery life

If seen, the Kirin 659 processor is a bit larger. It can’t challenge Qualcomm’s mid-range processors in terms of power and capabilities. Honor 9N manages simple tasks like simple browsing and social media applications. Pressing but backwards. We were given a slightly weaker processor with several apps open in the background or dozens of tabs open in Chrome. We have realized many times behind the keyboard. The phone occasionally slows down during the review. In today’s budget phones are getting more and more powerful, in a situation where the Honor 9N is disappointing. In our experience games like Subway Surfers have worked well. However, in games like Asphalt 8, the framerates fell.

Pressing the smartphone also became hot. But there is no problem. The quality of the call was crisp and clean. 4G connectivity was also very tight. The Honor 9N has face support and is made possible by a 16-megapixel front camera. It works fine in most situations. In good light, it instantly unlocks the phone. However, it suffers from direct sunlight and insufficient light.

Honor 9N

The Honor 9N out of the box runs on Android 8.0 Orio. On top of this Huawei EMUI 8.0 custom skin has been used. Android P is being updated on this phone, nothing has been said at the moment. EMUI now responds better than older versions. Huawei claims that the EMUI 8.0 version is 60 percent faster than the EMUI 5.1. However, it is still not as fast as stock Android or Oxygen OS.

Apps like Facebook Messenger, True Color and Netflix are pre-installed on the phone. The good thing is that these can be uninstalled. Honestly, the number of unsolicited applications offered on Honor 9N is disappointing.

Like Honor 9 Lite, the battery life of this Honor brand phone is also very average. In our HD video loop test, the Honor 9N battery lasts 8 hours 40 minutes. This is even lower than the average performance of this market segment. In normal use, we found that the phone needed to be charged as early as 9-10 p.m. By using here we mean running Google Map for two-three hours. Stay active all day on social media apps like WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram, play Asphalt 8 games for a while and occasionally use the camera for selfies and videos. There is no fast charging support. The battery of the phone takes about two and a half hours to take full charge.

Honor 9N camera

The Honor 9N has a dual rear camera setup. The primary sensor is 13 megapixels and the second sensor is 2 megapixels. LED flash is also provided. The front panel has a 16-megapixel sensor.

The camera app has been created with intelligence. It also has pro mode where the user has the facility to control the shutter speed, ISO, exposure, aperture and white balance. AR stickers are fun and a good time waster. It can be used with front and rear cameras.

The rear camera compares the average quality to the appropriate lighting conditions. The photos come with decent details and the colors are also perfect. In wide aperture mode you can set the aperture (F / 0.95 – F / 13). This can be done before or after the photo shoot. However, looking at images taken in wide aperture mode, it seemed as if the Photoshop attempt had gone hilarious. The photos also did not seem to be of average quality. Edge detection was extremely average

The performance of the camera in low light is very poor in the photo lacks detail and it seems sharper than necessary. There’s also a hint of noise and the phone is also slow to focus. The condition of the front camera is also the same. It retreats in low light and takes decent pictures in appropriate light. There is also Beauty Mode which gives 10 levels of beautification and it works well. You can also take bokeh shots with the front camera. This is possible through software algorithms. Photos in this mode are of very average quality and blurry effects don’t work very often.

You will be able to record video up to 1080 pixel resolution with front and rear cameras. The quality of the recorded videos is very average and the lack of detail is obvious especially at night. The footage is shaky due to the electronic image stability.

Our decision
The Honor 9N is a compact smartphone that comes with a vibrant display, new design and out of the box Android 8.0 Orio. The color variants are very interesting, especially the robin egg blue. At the same time, the battery life is very average. Performance is also below average. The EMUI seems scattered and frustrates the camera in low light.

If you want an affectionate phone with a good display, the Honor 9N will prove to be a bargain for an initial variant of profit. Other variants are a bit more expensive and we cannot advise you to buy them. If you are looking for a phone in this price category then looking Redmi Note 5 Pro (Revaluation) A great all-rounder and a complete bargain for the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. Oppo Realm 1 is also a good option. It comes with a more powerful processor but it does not have a fingerprint sensor.
