Spotify purchased podcasts to enhance podcast discovery on its platform


On Thursday Spotify announced the acquisition of the podcast discovery platform Podz. Podz is a platform that provides a short clip as a teaser for a podcast. These teasers are meant for users to decide which podcast they want to listen to. Podz’s integration with SpeedFi will be completed by the end of this year. To recall, earlier this week, the company announced Greenroom as a competitor to the popular audio-only chat platform Clubhouse.

With the announcement of the acquisition, Spotify made its announcement Blog We are investing in Discovery Experience, creating and scaling the best (and most personalized) podcasts in the world. Spotify is set to bring podcast technology to its platform soon, with users said to be able to experience this new component on the Spotify platform by the end of this year.
