Japanese carmaker Suzuki Motor Corporation is reportedly planning to launch the first electric car in India. A media report said that the company may launch the first electric car in India by 2025. In India, Suzuki Motor works closely with Maruti and Maruti Suzuki’s one electric car – the Wagon R EV is already under discussion in the country. The car has also been seen several times in road tests and its live pictures have also been leaked. Although Maruti has not given any information about its launch at the moment.

Asian News website Nikkei Report According to reports, Suzuki is planning to launch the first electric car in India. The report further claims that the car will be launched in the country first, after which the company will launch it in its domestic market and other markets. However, the car may take a long time to reach India. The report said that the car could be launched by 2025. Not only that, the report has also given information about the upcoming car prices. The upcoming Suzuki electric car is said to be priced at 15 lakh yen (around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 11 lakh).

Sales of electric vehicles in India are currently very slow, due to the infrastructural efficiency of charging. However, the Indian government has set a target of keeping at least 30 per cent electric vehicles in the country by 2030. Besides, the government is also giving subsidies to increase consumer interest in electric vehicles. Recently, due to the new EV policy of the Gujarat government, the prices of electric vehicles in the state have come down significantly. The Maharashtra government has also changed its policy, under which subsidies have been increased.

It’s been a long time since Suzuki’s electric car hit the country, but Maruti Suzuki Wagon and EV are expected to be launched in the country soon. However, the company has recently made it clear that it has no plans to launch the car anytime soon. Wagon and Electric have been spotted several times during road tests. Its design has also been revealed through live photos. Wagons and non-electric cars are the most preferred cars in the middle class in India. This is why the upcoming electric version is expected to be launched at a lower price.
