The Metro app raises a lot of questions, avoiding downloading at the moment

Mitro, so far more than 50 million people have downloaded this Tiktok clone app. Allegedly, the app is made in India, but there is a story behind it. It has recently been revealed that this app is actually a rebranded version of the TickTick app in Pakistan, the source code of which has been purchased for around Rs. The Friends app is being promoted as an Indian app, which is why it has been downloaded more than 5 million times in a very short time. Although its popularity is growing rapidly, the question is whether the Mitron app is safe to use. Should you download this application or refrain from downloading it citing security?

Maitron gives you the option to upload short videos like TickTack, but unlike the Chinese app, the Friends app does not include any privacy policy. The Privacy Policy shows how the app can use your data and the policy should also contain information about the important terms of use of the app. However, friends, looking at the app, it seems that this policy is not important to the developers at all. If you go to Maitron’s Google Play page and click on the privacy policy link below, it will take you to a site called Shopkillerin, which is a blank page.

We searched for this domain name and found that the domain is registered through GoDaddy and its address is in Uttarakhand, India. Micron was developed by an IIT-Roorkee student, so the Uttarakhand address is attached to this link somewhere connected but this link appears to be a bit weak.

Return to application permissions. Friends want lots of permission on your Android phone. Checking again on Google Play tells us that Mitron will ask permission for your photos, internal storage, camera, microphone, flashlight, and even prevent your device from falling asleep. Now that we know that video sharing app needs it the most, but if the app doesn’t have a privacy policy and the developer is an unknown entity, how do you know if your data has been sold to suspicious advertising agencies? Used?

The developer’s website is mitron.tv and if you open the website, it would take you to a friend’s Google Play page until a while ago, but at the time of writing the news it was just showing a blank page. The app, which has been downloaded more than 5 million times, has no website or privacy policy. Would you believe The developers of Micron can’t expect this app to be so viral, but even then anonymous individuals or entities still want access to their personal information, private videos, stored photos, demanding privacy.

Of course, Maitron’s privacy issues need to be fixed soon, but in the meantime we would not recommend using this app.

Even after knowing all these things, do you still think your friends should use it?
